NEW RPAS UNIT

 

Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems

 

This week 5 of our officers have been writing exams and learning how to operate 5 new Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems to form our new RPAS unit. This unit was funded by the Ontario government through the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario Proceeds of Crime grant.

 

Having this unit will help improve public safety, increase operational efficiency, and reduce risks to officers.

 

What can we use them for?

- Finding missing people

- Tracking suspects

- Mapping Crime Scenes

- De-escalation

- Scouting dangerous scenes
