Aggravated Assault in Port Elgin
Media Release – Aggravated Assault
On July 10th at approximately 7:30pm officers were called to attend an apartment in Port Elgin in regards to a stabbing that had just occurred.
Officers arrived on scene and located the man who was suffering from a stab wound to his leg. He provided information that a woman, known to him, became enraged for unknown reasons and stabbed him once with a four inch blade.
Officers received a description of the assailant and located her a short distance away and placed her under arrest.
An investigation revealed that the woman was on a probation order that prohibited her from contacting or communicating with the victim.
The victim was transported to the hospital where he was treated for his wound and released.
A 36 year old woman, of no fixed address, has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Weapons Dangerous
- Breach of Probation – contact order with victim
- Breach of Probation – keep the peace and be of good behaviour
The accused has been held in custody at a detention facility pending a bail hearing.
