Media Release – Flight From Police and Prohibited Driving
On January 18th, 2019 an officer on patrol spotted a male driving a vehicle who was prohibited from driving as a result from recent impaired driving conviction.
The male ignored the officer’s attempt to stop the vehicle and continued to an address on Bricker Street in Port Elgin. Once at this address the male fled on foot. As a result of the contact the male’s vehicle was impounded for 45 days under the Provincial Vehicle Impoundment Program.
Attempts to apprehend the driver were unsuccessful and an arrest warrant was obtained.
On February 21st, 2019 the wanted male was observed in the downtown core of Port Elgin. Officers from the Criminal Investigations and Drug Unit arrested the male without incident.
A 33 year old Port Elgin man has been charged with:
- Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited – Criminal Code
- Flight from police – Criminal Code
He was released from custody with a court date.
